Frustration

Wednesday I had to stop at the fabric store to get something to fix the boyfriend's dobok. I took a quick look around, as I didn't have a lot of time and another errand to run.

I didn't see a single thing that inspired me.

Usually I'll see at least one or two things that say "hey, play around with me!" or "I want to be something!". Usually its a bunch of things that will point themselves out and give me a bunch of ideas.

Not this time.

I didn't see a single thing. I was not inspired at all. No sparks of creativity hit me, and I barely even had a "ooh, that's pretty, I want that" moment.

This depresses me to no end.

Its a reminder at how fickle creativity can be sometimes.

I sometimes wonder if I'm asking myself to be too productive, that I'm asking too much of myself. I still haven't come up with a good answer for that, either.

I pulled out the pointy sticks and some cotton and started something yesterday. I don't even know what it's going to be - I just needed to get my hands moving.

Maybe once my hands are moving, my brain will follow.

Go recycle yourself...

I finished a recycled grocery bag for the Etsy store, and took some new pictures of another item with our new and improved camera.

I finally sold something last month, but it's been pretty dead since then. I'm debating on taking new pictures for everything, but really, I don't think the ones that are on there are really that bad.

I started another recycled bag, but now I've run out of tan bags, and only have white left and haven't decided if that's acceptable for this bag. It could work, I'm just picky, but not picky enough to go bring 20 some more plastic bags into the house just to finish it.

The sock is good. I got a few inches further down the foot, and now I'm at the point that's tricky pattern reading. I kind of have pattern dyslexia at times. It'll say hdc but I'll end up sc'ing or something. It's not a big deal, I just have to go slow and go stitch by stitch. Not bad, just time consuming. :)

That's what's going on in my world. Everything's pretty stable and calm at the moment, which is good. I head back to school at the end of next month, which means I get to actually participate in the back to school sales, which makes me ridiculously happy.

Well, I have a bored cat on my lap who wants attention and a date with the gym, so off I go....

Back in the Saddle

I made a decision: There will be no pictures of the Aqua Aloha. The more I consider it, the more anger and shame I feel about the way it turned out.

So to get my mind off it, I've started the socks!

This is the Dragon Scale Socks pattern from the first CLF book. So far, so good.

Ugh.

You know how you've worked on something long enough that you just want it to be over? I'm totally there with this sweater. Fortunately, it's technically finished.

And the "slightly baggy" thing I mentioned earlier? Try WAY too baggy. I honestly don't know WHAT went on with my gauge, other than I was using the slick wooden hook instead of my normal Boyes. I honestly don't get it.

I'm going to launder it and see if it makes any difference, but since it's acrylic, I doubt it will.

I've figured out a neckline alteration that will make it wearable, in any case.

Oy.
